GTD issues 26,575 citations in a week

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 22: Statistics issued by the traffic sector of the General Traffic Department shows over one week (from Oct 10 to Oct 16) the traffic police have issued 26,575 citations, impounded 10 vehicles, arrested 59 violators of traffic laws, arrested 33 persons for driving without licence and 29 others who were wanted by law, reports Al-Anba daily.

Giving a breakdown, Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh, who headed the campaign said in for the Farwaniya 2,848 citations were issued and seized five bicycles; in Ahmadi, 2,468 violations were issued, two vehicles and two bicycles were seized, eight were referred to the police station, and a vehicle wanted by law was seized.

In Al-Jahra, 3,193 violations were issued, and a wanted person was arrested, 26 juveniles were also arrested for various reason and 3 were referred to the traffic police. In the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, 1,229 violations were issued and 3 juveniles and wanted persons were seized. The traffic sector said the campaigns will continue in all governorates.
