Greed takes over as Filipino robs compatriot woman

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: Detectives from Salmiya Investigation Unit arrested a Filipino driver who took KD 500 from his female compatriot by force, while dropping her off to her accommodation after she was returning from work in a salon for ladies located in the same area. The suspect is said to have noticed that suitcase the victim was carrying contained money, and decided to take it forcibly. He fled the scene after the incident but securitymen were able to trail and arrest him within 24 hours. A case was registered.

Drug peddler held: Hawally securitymen arrested a 25-year-old GCC national for trafficking in ‘crystal meth’ (shabu) and other types of narcotics in South Surrah. According to the security sources, the officers received report about the GCC national who has a criminal background, that he was selling narcotics to his customers in South Surrah.

Immediately, a task force was formed and then sent an undercover police to buy narcotics. The undercover agent managed to get hold of the suspect and agreed to by ‘crystal meth’ at KD 200. Upon the exchange of money and narcotics, the officers arrested the suspect, who at that time, had in his possession 600 grams of ‘crystal meth’ and other narcotics, as well as KD 21,000. The drug trader and the confiscated narcotics were referred to the concerned authority where necessary legal measures were taken against him.

Suicide bid rejected: An Indian mechanic working at Shuaiba Port accidentally consumed a big quantity of fuel. Securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location after the Operations Unit at the Interior Ministry received information on the incident. They referred the Indian to Adan Hospital.

Initially, the Indian was suspected of trying to commit suicide. However, during interrogation, the officers were informed that the Indian drank the fuel by mistake and he had no intention to commit suicide. A case was registered and investigations are underway to establish the actual circumstances leading to the incident
