‘Grandma rich’ Expenses cut

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: The Family Court revoked the rent expenses that were being paid to a woman who was given custody of her grandchildren after the children’s mother married a foreigner.

Lawyer Mubarak Al-Khashab sued the grandmother on behalf of his client, the father of the children. He explained that the grandmother owns two real-estate properties — one in Ahmadi and another in Jaber Al-Ali, due to which she must not be given rent expenses.

Lawyer Al-Khashab presented documents to prove the woman’s ownership of the two real-estate properties. He said article No. 198 of the personal status Law No. 51/1984 stipulates the right to obtain rent expenses falls when the custodian owns real-estate property.
