Govt to fight menace of fictitious accounts, particularly those harming unity of country

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29: The government is preparing a list of fictitious account holders in the social media, particularly those who promote sedition, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily added, the names will then be submitted to the concerned authorities and the suspects will be summoned for interrogation.

According to reliable sources, the government will not only close these accounts, but will file cases against them, irrespective whether those who operate these accounts live in the country or operate these accounts from abroad.

Those operating from abroad will be sued in coordination with the country’s embassies overseas. In this context, the daily has learned that the Government Communications Center met with representatives of all government agencies to discuss the issue.

The sources said the center has stressed on the need to use the latest technology to combat rumors, saying this can be done by forming special teams in each ministry. The sources said the government agencies must interact with public through WhatsApp and develop the accounts of ministries.
