CTC extends tender closing date

KUWAIT CITY, March 2: The government is exerting tremendous efforts to accelerate and complete the implementation of economic laws to improve the business environment in the country through draft laws as per the development plan, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily learned three bills prepared by the Council of Ministers will soon be presented in the National Assembly for approval of the lawmakers. The sources said one of the draft laws which is with the Legal Affairs Committee of the Council of Ministers is protection of competition which will be then sent to the National Assembly.

The sources added, the Fatwa and Legislation Department is redoubling its efforts to complete the legal review of the integrated legislative system of bankruptcy, insolvency and default laws. The sources expect the two bills will be completed to protect competition and bankruptcy during April. “In March, we have several draft reports ready for discussion, including the Registry in kind, the right to access information, the amendment to the Companies Law, the insurance activity, the amendment of the privatization law, the expropriation and the temporary appropriation of the public benefit and others,” said the sources.

Meanwhile,the Central Tenders Committee has agreed to extend by 30 days the closing date for the tender for the construction, completion and maintenance of the building No. 2, the service buildings including parking and the roads leading to the new airport, reports Al-Rai daily.

The sources in the Ministry of Public Works attributed the postponement to limiting the announcement of the offer to ‘local agents’ without international companies. Therefore, the date of the preliminary meeting was postponed until the international companies finish registering with the Central Tenders Committee and buying tender documents.
