KUWAIT CITY, May 31: The Ministry of Health inaugurated the Kuwait ‘car’ Vaccination Center on the South Island at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge Sunday. The Kuwait Vaccination Center at Jaber Bridge, which is designed for car service, and is one of the largest vaccination centers in Kuwait and includes 10 tracks for a total of 20 vaccination booths, which can accommodate 80 cars at one time. The center is built on an area of 30,000 square meters and includes clinics, emergency rooms and vaccination booths. The oil sector has provided the center with all services, including electricity, air conditioning and sanitation. About 100 palm trees have planted throughout the center.

In addition to vaccination booths, there are other cabins dedicated to medicine, pharmacy and support services. During the first hours yesterday, the center received dozens of citizens and residents from 5 o’clock until 11 pm, as hundreds of citizens and residents flocked to receive the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine against the Covid-19 virus – those who had received the text message from the Ministry of Health to receive the vaccine complete with the date and the place of vaccination. The inauguration of the center was done in the presence of a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Health, headed by Undersecretary Dr. Mustafa Reda and Director of the Public Health Department, Dr. Fahad Al-Ghamlas. Both men conducted a field survey of the center to check on the progress and work and to ensure all equipment was in place on the site before the actual vaccination process began.

Official spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad said the ministry has provided medical, technical, nursing and administrative staff to the center. He indicated there are about 200 employees to serve the visitors. He added, the ministry has supplied and equipped the center with all its needs in terms of medical equipment and tools to facilitate the smooth functioning of the center. He pointed this project was carried out in partnership between the Ministry of Health and several institutions, including the Kuwait Oil Company and the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC), in addition to the ministries of Public Works and the Interior, the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART) and the Directorate- General of Fire Department. He explained there are 22 vaccination centers in all governorates of the country to serve all regions to shorten the distance and ease of access, in addition to the Kuwait Vaccination Center in Mishref, and that the vaccine is also provided to some security sectors in the Military Hospital and to the oil sector in the Ahmadi Hospital of the Kuwait Oil Company. – By Marwa Al-Bahrawi Al-Seyassah, Arab Times Staff
