From 10 years jail to acquittal

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 15: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Faisal Al- Harbi, overturned the ruling to sentence a citizen and his children to 10 years in jail in absentia for obtaining citizenship fraudulently, resulting in their acquittal. Lawyer for the accused, Attorney Ali Al-Asfour, presented substantial evidence in court in favor of his clients; thereby, clearing the name of the citizen and his children.

According to the case file, the Public Prosecution charged the citizen and his children with forging official documents in order to obtain citizenship. The prosecution argued the defendant carried out the fraudulent act with the intention of deceiving the relevant authority in approving his application for citizenship and that of his children.
