Former MPs acquitted of insulting Jordan

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: The Court of Cassation dismissed the appeal submitted by the Public Prosecution against the verdict issued to acquit former MPs Musallam Al-Barrak, Mubarak Al-Wa’alan and Salem Al-Namlan, and the citizen Abbas Al-Sha’abi who were accused of offending the Jordanian King.

The court decided to uphold the acquittal decision taken by the Court of Appeals. The case was filed by Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Public Prosecution had charged the suspects with circulating false information about the internal situation in Kuwait. Musallam Al-Barrak was charged with offending Jordan.

They were also charged with illegal gathering and not responding to the orders of securitymen to end the demonstration. During the investigations, the suspects had denied the accusations.
