KUWAIT CITY, July 2: On the basis of letters sent by Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Ministry of Commerce and Industry has closed the companies that collected donations without obtaining relevant licenses, reports Aljarida daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, in a letter sent to Ministry of Commerce and Industry, recommended the need to take necessary legal measures against some companies that have been raising funds and performing charity works illegally or without obtaining a license from Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, which is in violation of the ministerial decision No. 101/1995.

Ministry of Commerce and Industry placed the companies under the microscope in preparation for enumerating those companies and ensuring such activities are not repeated illegally in the future.

The sources said the ministry addressed the management of the Minister’s Office about the measures taken against these companies after investigations.

They revealed that companies closed by the ministry included a company for publication and distribution of Holy Quran, and an Islamic library after discovering they do not have headquarters.
