KUWAIT CITY, June 17: The Fintas Cooperative Society team have emerged victorious in the 12th Ramadan Futsal Tournament organized by the Cooperative Societies Union at Al-Tadhamon Club grounds.

According to a press release, the team won the tournament after defeating the Ishbiliya team in a penalty shootout with a score of 2-0 following their match which ended in a draw of two goals each.

Board Director of the Cooperative Societies Union Dr Saad Al-Shibo and other members of the board attended the finals of the tournament along with heads of various cooperative societies.

Prior to the final match, an exhibition match was held between a team of stars and a team of heads of cooperative societies. The team of stars included Tariq Al-Ali, Shihab Hajia, Khalid Muzaffir, Ahmad Al-Awnan, Khalid Al-Ojairab and Ahmad Al-Faraj. The stars won the match after scoring 2-0 in a penalty shootout when the match ended in a draw of two goals each in normal time. Hamad Buhamad was the commentator during the match.

Regarding the conclusion of the 12th tournament, Dr Saad Al-Shibo affirmed that the tournament was a success by all standards, the competition was strong and the members of the cooperative societies have shown that they are very cooperative and stand by each other.

He said, “The participating teams displayed their best performances and skills in this tournament especially during the final stages. I hope the next tournament will be even better”.

Dr Al-Shibo stressed the keenness of the Cooperative Societies Union to organize such tournaments because they enhance moral values and spirit of teamwork among the players, adding that the union will continue to hold more Ramadan activities such as Quran memorization competitions.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Fintas Cooperative Society Saoud Al-Harfan affirmed that the victory of the Fintas team was not based on luck but through a lot of hard work and dedicated efforts exerted by the players. He thanked the chairman and members of the Cooperative Societies Union for organizing the tournament.
