Finance studying possibility of restructuring workers salaries – Specialised company preparing study

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: In a developing event proving inconsistency of the Finance Ministry, for the third time in less than 10 days regarding the salary of employees in government sector, Undersecretary Khalifa Hamada returned to affirm that the ministry is currently studying the possibility of restructuring employees salaries, stressing the study will be ready in 2018 or 2019 after undergoing several stages lasting almost three years, says Al-Seyassah Arabic paper.

In a statement to Saudi’s Al-Iqtisaad, the undersecretary added a specialized company is preparing the study, which is in its initial stage, to set up general principles for the new salary grades. He indicated employee privileges and incentives that are based on specialization and single qualification in government sector will be higher for employees working in the fields rather than those working behind desks. Hamada explained the study aims at balancing privileges between employees to make it en par with each other, stressing it does not depend mainly on salary cuts. “Instead, it also consist of salary increase on some jobs in the pay grade, pointing out that there is a problem in the salaries in terms of differences whereby some salaries are high and others are very low.

Therefore, the ministry will work to achieve justice and chuck out huge differences between the salaries of experts or those with a single qualification.

As the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has started implementing employees performance appraisals, which will determine productive employees from non productive ones — among other efforts to encourage production and cut unnecessary costs in the government sector, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Priorities Committee MP Dr Yusuf Al-Zalzala affirmed that “it is unacceptable to deprive the rights of hard working class”. He wondered the government’s hasty decision to amend the law to shrink gains of some employers
