Filipino maids torture toddler

KUWAIT CITY, March 8: A Kuwaiti man has filed a complaint with the Adan Police Station accusing two Filipino housemaids of spilling hot water on his two-year-old daughter and escaping from the house, reports Al-Rai daily. The father has submitted a medical report which shows the daughter has sustained second degree burns. Police are looking for the absconders.

Fake labor targeted: The Kuwait Public Manpower Authority (PAM) will soon embark on inspection campaigns to identify fake labor in the industrial, agricultural, trading and contracting sectors, reports Al-Anba daily. Sources close to the PAM said the authority will close the files of institutes if they are found to be violating the labor laws. Their licences will be cancelled; the owners will be ordered to pay fines and may even end up behind bars.
