KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15, (KUNA): The Minister of Interior, during the Cabinet session on Monday, informed the ministers about a recommendation by the higher citizenship commission to strip 51 individuals of the Kuwaiti citizenship. Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, also the Deputy Prime Minister, presented the executives with the recommendation “due to fraud, false information and testimonies,” said the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, in a statement to KUNA following the Cabinet weekly session.

In turn, the ministers lauded the panel’s tasks to ensure that the Kuwaiti citizenship be granted, solely, to eligible applicants. In line with the graceful guidance by His Highness the Amir to grant the citizenship to children of Kuwaiti widows, divorcees, children and grandchildren of the naturalized persons, Sheikh Mohammad Khaled informed the Cabinet that it had been given to a number of persons of this segment.

A number of Kuwaiti widows and divorcees’ children as well as children and grandchildren of naturalized citizens were granted citizenship, said Sheikh Mohammad following the Cabinet meeting.

This move is in line with the graceful guidance by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah to grant the citizenship to children of Kuwaiti widows and divorcees, and naturalized citizens. Upon a recommendation by the Higher Committee of Kuwaiti Citizenship, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed the Cabinet on granting the citizenship to the above-mentioned, Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abudllah added. The move is in line with the Articles II and VII mentioned in the law of citizenship, he noted.
