Felonies increasing in Kuwait at alarming rate

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: Statistics issued by the security authorities has sounded the alarm bell in terms of the spread of felonies such as theft of money and other similar crimes. The Public Prosecution said 1,555 cases were reported in 2019, up from 1,424 similar cases in the previous year, while the number of cases was 1,355 in 2017. The Prosecution confirmed there is a noticeable growth of such crimes in the country, which the jurists and psychologists have warned of, stressing that the increase and spread of theft is due to its close association with the growing phenomenon of drug addiction, the high rates of divorce and the consequent family disintegration of which the children pay the price.

The statistics issued by the Ministry of Justice said in 2019 the courts dealt with 1,204 including cases of breakins, 512 arson cases, 65 cases house break-ins, 22 cases of forced robbery, 15 cases or armed robbery and 6 cases of money extortion. By Najeh Bilal Al-Seyassah Staff
