KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12: The Fast Track Court scheduled a session for Dec 8, 2016 to review a petition submitted by the Fatwa and Legislation Department on behalf of the Interior Ministry to suspend the execution of a verdict in favor of the owner of Alam Al- Yawm newspaper and channel Ahmad Al-Jabr. The verdict was to cancel the decision to withdraw Al-Jabr’s nationality and restore it immediately in addition to granting him KD 5,001 compensation. The Fatwa and Legislation Department will also submit a notice of appeal to the Court of Appeals before the end of the legal timeframe to request for cancellation of the decision of the Administrative Court to rescind the resolution of the Interior Ministry to revoke the citizenship of Al-Jabr.

‘Fraud’ agency sued: Lawyer Abdulaziz Al-Benwan, on behalf of his client, filed a case against a real-estate agency over a contract signed between his client and the company for the purchase of a house in the United States of America, demanding the agency to terminate the contract and return $250,000 that his client had paid, as well as pay the rent of the house from January 2016 until the contract was signed. He stressed that the agency is involved in several swindling and money laundering issues. Lawyer Al-Benwan explained that his client had signed the contract with the company in August 2015. The company was supposed to hand over the house to his client after the latter paid $250,000 within 200 days. According to the contract, the company is responsible for issuing the title of the building to his client. He revealed that his client resorted to the court when the company did not respond after he called the company and demanded termination of the contract and return of the money
