Family members fight as son dies in mishap

KUWAIT CITY, March 14: Members of a family engaged in a quarrel in Mubarak Al-Kabeer area after their relative perished in a motorbike accident. Acting on information, a team of security operatives rushed to the scene to maintain order and referred the feuding party to the area police station. Initial investigation revealed that the fight started after the family received news about the death of their son who reportedly succumbed to injuries at the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital after crashing on his motorbike.

Kuwaiti arrested: A Kuwaiti citizen was arrested in Thaher area in possession of drugs. According to security sources, Ahmadi securitymen were at a security checkpoint when they suspected an individual who was behaving in a disoriented manner. While he was stepping out of his car, securitymen noticed him drop a plastic packet, which they checked to find hashish rolled in a cigarette and a number of narcotic pills. He was arrested and referred with the drugs to the Directorate General for Drugs Control for necessary legal action against him.

Local liquor seized: Two Asian expatriates were arrested in Farwaniya area in possession of 33 bottles of locally manufactured liquor. According to security sources, Special Forces officers were patrolling Farwaniya area when they stopped two individuals in a Japanese vehicle based on suspicions. The officers checked their details to discover they are Asian expatriates. Sensing their nervousness, officers checked the vehicle to fi nd 33 bottles of locally manufactured liquor. The suspects were arrested and referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

  No casualties in fire: Fire broke out in a Kuwaiti citizen’s house in Sabah Al- Salem area. No casualties were reported but material losses were incurred. According to sources, when the Control Room of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) received information about the fire, firefighters from Mishref and Qurain fire stations rushed to the location with securitymen and paramedics and extinguished the fi re after evacuating the tenants from the building. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
