Fake UAE beggars

KUWAIT CITY, April 29: Police have arrested a Jordanian couple and their child for begging for alms in a well-known mall, reports Al- Anba daily. The trio has been referred to the Criminal Investigations Department before deporting them to the United Arab Emirates because they arrived in Kuwait from the UAE.

The Jordanian was taken into custody when he was seated inside his car in the basement of a well-known mall. The car carried the UAE registration plate, the man was dressed like an Emirati and he was caught red-handed asking for KD 50 from an unidentifi ed person claiming he had lost his wallet and the family wanted to return to the UAE. He also promised to return the money and asked ‘donors’ for their account number with a promise to send the money to them once he reaches the UAE. The man was seized after police received several reports about the activity of the family.

According to a security source, the man had managed to collect KD 8,000 in just a few days. The family which has a valid UAE residence permit will be deported. The source said the UAE authorities are also expected to deport the family to its home country.
