KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: Ministry of Education has requested the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) to expedite the completion of procedures for 19 tenders that are being studied in CAPT, stressing the need for urgency and granting them a status of importance in order to preserve the functioning of the ministry, reports Al-Qabas daily. in its letter to CAPT, the Ministry of Education affirmed its readiness to provide all means of cooperation with CAPT in this regard. However, it clarified that public service contracts (guarding, cleaning, correspondence, feeding and transporting) is of great importance and one of the pillars of the educational system because of the support services it provides to the educational process. And its interruption will result in a breach of the educational process of the ministry.

The ministry explained that all public service contracts in all educational zones have expired except for three ongoing contracts, but some of them are about to expire. This prompted the ministry to extend the expired contracts to ensure that it continues to provide support services for the educational process without stopping, and because of the lack of completion of the procedures for offering, awarding and contracting for new alternative tenders.

It said, “This contradicts the Public Tenders Law No. 49/2016 to ensure the principle of integrity and equality among companies competing to implement new tenders. In this context and within the procedures followed by the ministry for the success of the educational process and to ensure that schools are ready for the return of our students to classes, we offer you the tenders that are still under study. We hope that they will be completed as soon as possible”.
