Family visa salary cap likely KD 800

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: The Ministry of Interior will soon issue a decision to increase the salary cap for granting family visa (Article 22) from KD 500 to KD 800, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable source.

The source revealed that the decision will be applicable to expatriates who hold government work visa (Article 17) and private sector work visa (Article 18). Aside from the KD800 salary condition, these expatriates will be required to submit the original work permit, while any proof showing that they are receiving another salary from any party or that the basic salary is deposited to the bank account and allowances or additional salary are paid separately will not be considered.

The source explained this is part of the ministry’s commitment to balance the demographic structure and allow expatriates with high salaries to bring their families here, provided they can prove that they have the capability to provide their families with satisfactory standard of living and their wives should not work here.

The source added this decision will cover the wives, children who are below 16 years old, parents and mothers-in-law of the abovementioned expatriates.

On the other hand, the source confirmed that expatriates on family visa (Article 22) are still allowed to stay outside the country for more than six months; indicating this decision has been implemented since the corona pandemic.
