The visiting Royal Navy ship, HMS St Albans, played the P.S.A. Everton Academy senior team at Bayan in a closely fought exhibition game, during the ship’s brief visit to Kuwait. Both teams were at full strength and looked to attack from the start but the defences proved to be dominant for both teams. It was a very evenly contested fi rst half and the only goal was scored by Luke for the Everton boys, as he capitalised on a defensive slip in the St Albans back line.
The second period started in the same fashion as the fi rst, with strong challenges and aggressive attacking play from both sides thrilling the crowd. As the half progressed however it was the Everton team that began to dominate possession and create several good scoring opportunities from their slick passing and good movement off the ball.
From one of these quick passing attacking plays, Harry Frain struck a superb drive from outside the penalty area that found the bottom corner to give Everton a well deserved 2-0 victory. The match was expertly offi ciated by Stephen Kilpatrick and the team captains exchanged mementoes prior to kick off.
