KUWAIT CITY, May 15: A typically powerhouse performance has guided Eternity Travels to a straight-sets win against Kuwait Hunters in the volleyball tournament match of Kuwait Philippines Basketball/Volleyball League second conference campaign held at the BSK Gym Friday. Eternity won the game by 11 points, 25-14.

After a 2nd -placed finish in the first conference, Eternity started the second conference brightly, racing out to a 6-1 lead in the opening minutes. The Hunters leveled at 12-12 but Eternity again pulled away, with Mitch picking up four successful attacks and an ace in the first 10 minutes. Eternity’s Elma was also impressive with four attacks of her own and a block.

Eternity pressed home their dominance in the twelve minute, with their superior serving and attacking.

The visitors, Kuwait Hunters responded and worked their way to a 6-3 advantage. Eternity again regained the ascendancy after a technical timeout, going on a 4-1 run to lead 10-9.

Then Hunters suffered a scary moment with their star player Ellen landing awkwardly on her left leg, injuring her knee and needing to be carried from the floor. The incident seemingly took the wind out of the Hunter’s sails and Eternity wrapped up the game with an 11 point win at 25-14 outcome. Eternity Travels took the game, mostly due to their strong serve and consistency.

“It was a tough game, we knew that they had a very strong team, but we fought as we could. We began training for this competition very late in the season but nonetheless, we were able to win the trophy”, said Mitch, the Eternity captain.

“We know that we have failed on our services, I think that was the main reason for our defeat. Our opponents were very strong on their serve and we couldn’t handle it very well. Congratulations to Eternity.”, said the Hunters captain.

Somewhere during the intermission, participants took to the floor to dance the Zumba dance to some loud and deafening music.

Meanwhile, in other volleyball matches of the weekend, the Regency Hotel won the game by just three points, 25-22 against Pusong Pinoy in game two. And Kaifan Eagles won by default against Blue Hour who failed to show up for their scheduled game.
