On the other hand, MP Adnan Abdulsamad affirmed his commitment to the call of the late Imam Khomeini of the Iranian Revolution in 1979 to support the Palestinian cause. He made the statement on the occasion of the International Quds Day which is commemorated on the last Friday of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Abdulsamad said he is proud of the public and official position of Kuwait in rejecting continuous attempts to persuade it to normalize relations with the Zionist entity (Israel). He asserted that normalizing relations with Israel is nothing but a mirage. He quoted a verse from the Holy Quran, Surah Al An-Nur, Ayat 39: “As for those who deny the truth, their deeds are like a mirage in the desert which the thirsty perceive as water, but it turns out to be nothing when they approach it.

Instead, they find Allah there (in the Hereafter) ready to settle their account. And Allah is swift in reckoning.” He hailed the Palestinians who remain steadfast in protecting Al- Aqsa Mosque, the neighborhood and all occupied Palestinian cities and towns. He also stressed the need to give Palestinians all forms of support. In another development, MP Bader Al-Mullah forwarded queries to First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al- Ahmad to the leaked chats of a WhatsApp group that allegedly belongs to Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim.

He wants to know if the State Security and Cyber Crimes general departments in the Interior Ministry conducted investigations in this regard, reasons for not conducting investigations if the answer is ‘no’, if the ministry made sure that none of the individuals mentioned in the leaked chats has been granted the Kuwaiti nationality according to Article 13 of the 1959 Nationality Law, and the action taken against them. He said Article 13 states that citizenship granted to individuals according to articles Three, Four, Five, Seven or Eight could be revoked through the issuance of a decree upon the recommendation of the ministry in the following cases: if the competent authorities have evidence that the naturalized person expresses opinions undermining the economic and social structure of the State or if he is a member of a political association in another country.

Meanwhile, Deputy National Assembly Speaker Ahmed Al-Shuhoumi has submitted a proposal to grant more privileges to Kuwaiti Imams and Muezzins in order to encourage more citizens to apply for such jobs in the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. He suggested granting them qualification allowance amounting to KD 750 for doctorate degree holders and KD450 for master degree holders, incentive ranging from KD300 to KD550 depending on the years of experience, and stipend for the propagation of Islam and preaching ranging from KD175 to KD300.
