KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24: The Ministry of Education recently discovered that a large number of its employees, who are currently outside the country, continue to receive their salaries despite the issuance of a decision to stop the payment of their salaries since August last year; prompting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Affairs Osama Al- Sultan to instruct the educational districts to investigate the matter and provide him with a detailed report no later than Monday, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily obtained a copy of Al-Sultan’s letter to the educational districts in which he said: “With reference to the letter of the assistant undersecretary for Financial Affairs that includes the names and other information about workers who are currently outside the country, have not resumed work till date and no salary suspension decisions have been issued against them according to the aforementioned letter; please instruct the competent authorities in your respective districts to verify the issuance of salary suspension decision against them and provide us with a detailed report that includes the reasons for not issuing the salary suspension decision.

They should inform us also about the decision to suspend the salary of these employees if any and measures taken against those who caused the delay in issuing the decision to stop the salary payment.”
