Employee accused in Assembly hack

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 7: The Criminal Court, presided by Counselor Abdullah Al-Othman, has set Feb 27, to summon Prosecution witnesses in the case of an Egyptian employee of the National Assembly who is accused of hacking the information network of the Parliament and disrupting the admin accounts during the inaugural speech of HH the Amir of the second session of the National Assembly, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Prosecution has charged the defendant, who is currently detained at the Central Prison, with illegally accessing the private information network of the National Assembly and disrupting the admin accounts.

The accused was working for the National Assembly as a specialist in the administration of engineering and services, and he is said to have disrupted the network by sending 7,000 viruses within 120 seconds to penetrate the network during the speech of HH the Amir, but his attempts failed because he was discovered and arrested by the Information Technology Department of the Assembly.
