KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Following the issuance of the new law regulating household labor (servant, driver, housemaid, nanny and cook), the first cases in this regard were referred to the court by the Domestic Labor Department and three licenses for labor recruitment were withdrawn from domestic labor offices, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting an informed source.

He said such a procedure is the first of its kind for the judicial and not administrative level since the establishment of these offices 40 years ago.

The source said this process began after the new leadership of the department for domestic labor employment affiliated to the General Department for Residency Affairs began tracking suspicious offices and checking all the documents, numbers and names of labor recruitment offices following the increase in related prices.

The department launched campaigns on these offices to identify the owners and determine whether they or some others are running those offices.

Following these campaigns, three licenses were withdrawn and their files were referred to the court when the owners refused to visit the domestic labor department after they were summoned for investigations over some complaints lodged against them.
