Plan to fix rent value of hall between KD 300 and KD 400 per night

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Undersecretary of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor Saad Al-Kharaz has issued an administrative decision, demanding Department of Community Development to collect advance deposit of KD 100 as insurance for renting wedding halls along with the leasing fee of KD 100, reports Al-Rai daily.

He revealed about an approach to fix the rent value of a hall between KD 300 and KD 400 per night, indicating that the ministry had previously proposed to double the price from KD 100 to KD 200, and had requested the opinion of Ministry of Finance in this regard.

Al-Kharaz explained that the ministry had previously imposed advance payment of insurance when renting out halls, but the decision was later canceled. Now that the ministry has realized that the cost for fixing the damages caused to the halls after concerts, weddings and other events exceed the rent value in most cases, it has decided to reimpose payment of insurance deposit.

He said the decision came into effect one week ago, and that it is no longer possible to rent halls without payment of the insurance value for protecting the rights of the ministry in carrying out the necessary maintenance works of the halls to fix the damages caused by those who rent them.
