MoH reshuffle postponed

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 1: The number of unemployed Kuwaitis in the first quarter of this year totaled 13,523; including 3,540 males (26.18 percent) and 9,983 females (73.82 percent), reports Al-Anba daily.

According to statistics released by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) recently, citizens who were unemployed for 12 months and more reached 45.66 percent, 13.75 percent were unemployed for six months and less than a year, and 40.58 percent were unemployed for less than six months.

The statistics showed a remarkable decline in the number of unemployed citizens compared with the year 2013 when the number of unemployed was at the highest level – 19,218 people. The statistics also revealed that majority of the unemployed are women and married.

On the other hand, the unemployed with low educational qualification – primary or intermediate or even without qualification – reached 61.95 percent; while 55.71 percent lack vocational qualifications because they did not undergo training courses to be qualified for suitable jobs.
