KUWAIT CITY, June 27: Health Minister Dr Jamal Al-Harbi has taken several decisions including the increase in prices of 1,336 medicines, 24 nutritional supplements and pharmaceutical concoctions, reports Al- Shahid daily.

The decisions consist of bylaws pertaining to the prices of medicines, pharmaceutical concoctions and nutritional supplements – about 45 percent increase based on public interest and recommendation of the Medicine Pricing Committee formed through ministerial resolution number 136/2011.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health has adopted the list of private sector surgeries for the following specializations: ophthalmology, nose, throat, ears, face, jaw and plastic surgery.

Meanwhile, acting Undersecretary of the State Ministry for Services Buthayna Al-Subaei has confirmed the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) approval of the excellent job performance bonus for about 5,000 deserving employees at an estimated cost of KD 6 million, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Subaei disclosed the beneficiaries include non-Kuwaiti employees under special contracts or those working under the bonus item, affirming the bonus will be paid immediately after Eid Al-Fitr holidays.

She clarified the bonus amount depends on the degree and designation of the employees; indicating the assistant undersecretaries will receive KD 2,000 while the directors of departments will get KD 1,500 and the bonus for Kuwaiti employees will range from KD 200 to KD 800 and the non-Kuwaitis will get around KD 150 to KD 200. She attributed delay in the payment of this bonus to bureaucracy in other related ministries, not the State Ministry for Services.
