KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: Ministry of Public Works intends to review the decision to cancel the safety lane on highways, because this decision is causing tragic accidents, the last of which occurred earlier this week, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting sources from the ministry.

They revealed that two meetings will be held with representatives of the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) and of the Ministry of Interior in order to discuss alternate solutions to this decision. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works has been continuing to work on applying asphalt on internal roads and repairing the potholes that cause inconvenience to motorists.

These activities have been ongoing in full swing in order to take advantage of the partial curfew periods with the aim of facilitating traffic movement on the internal roads in all areas.

The ministry revealed that work is currently ongoing in Al-Qusour, Sabahiya, Daiya, Shuhada and Abdali areas. It stressed that the projects for development of internal roads and bridges are being carried out 24 hours in conjunction with the asphalt works on all roads.

The ministry affirmed that all these projects are being carried out based on an urgent plan set by the ministry to take advantage of the curfew period and try to complete these projects in a shorter period of time.

It highlighted that the asphalt being used is an improved mixture boosted by additional materials that ensures durability and enables it to withstand severe weather conditions and all the existing components, in line with the international specifications required to ensure the quality of both the material and work.
