Death tally from deadly coronavirus reaches up to 1,017 – More than 43,000 people infected globally

KUWAIT, Feb 11 (KUNA) — Death tally from the novel coronavirus reached 1,017 people in China with 42,708 infection cases recorded across 31 regions, said the National Health Commission (NHC) Tuesday.
There are 2,478 new reported cases of the virus with 108 new confirmed deaths; 103 alone in the center of the outbreak in Hubei province, said the Commission.

It added that there were 3,536 newly suspected cases with some 849 suffering deterioration in health conditions and 7,333 patients in critical state.


The NHC indicated that 3,998 cases were discharged from hospital, saying that around 428,438 people — encountering those infected — were being monitored with 26,724 people cleared while 187,728 remained under observation.


In Hong Kong, there were 42 individuals confirmed to be infected until Monday with one death, while 10 cases were confirmed in Macau and 18 in Taiwan.


Meanwhile, Chinese President Xi Jinping said the situation in China is still pretty serious. However, during his visit to hospitals and centers treating coronavirus patients in Beijing, he affirmed that his country is capable of overcoming this crisis and defeating the virus.
He also held video calls with hospitals in Wuhan, the center of the virus outbreak, to learn of their efforts and measures taken to prevent the disease’s spread.

A viral outbreak that began in China has infected more than 43,000 people globally.
The latest figures reported by global health authorities as of Tuesday in Beijing:
– China: 1,016 deaths among 42,638 confirmed cases on the mainland. In addition, Hong Kong has had 42 cases, including one death. Macao has had 10 cases. Most of the illnesses and deaths have been in central Hubei province, where illnesses from the new type of Coronavirus were first detected in December.

– Taiwan: 18
– Australia: 14

– Vietnam: 15
