KUWAIT CITY, May 1: The Criminal Court has sentenced an unidentified Asian to death by hanging for attempting to smuggle huge quantity of drugs into the country. Court papers show the convict arrived at the Kuwait International Airport from an unidentified country and when he approached the inspection desk, he looked confused. The Customs officer opened the bag and found another bag inside in which the drugs were hidden.
Woman released: The Sentences Renewal Judge has ordered the release of a Kuwaiti woman who is allegedly holding the Kuwaiti, Iraqi and the Jordanian nationalities on KD 1,000 bail, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the woman’s husband has also been released on KD 100 bail but slapped a travel ban on the couple. Earlier it was reported, personnel from the General Department of Citizenship and Travel Documents had raided the home of the Kuwaiti woman, in Al-Sawaber complex and arrested her for obtaining the Kuwaiti citizenship on the strength of forged documents and referred her to the Public Prosecution.
‘Father responsible’: The Court of Appeals recently amended the verdict of the lower court which had ordered the father of a minor girl to pay KD 1,000 compensation to a young Kuwaiti who was defamed by his minor daughter. The court had also ordered the defendant to pay KD 100 defense fees, reports Al-Rai daily. In its ruling the Court of Appeals ordered the defendant to pay KD 2,000 and the aforementioned defense fees. Case papers indicate the defendant’s minor daughter had published a fake indecent picture of the plaintiff on the social media accompanied by an audio file of his voice and had also sent him abusive SMS. The court ruled the father is responsible for the behavior of his daughter because she is a minor.
