Dashti team win Ramadan Volleyball tourney opener

The 1st Jabriya Martyrs Ramadan Volleyball Tournament kicked off in the Hall of Fahad Al-Duwairi School under the sponsorship of Jabriya Cooperative Society’s Board Chairman Hussein Mahmoud Dashti.

The opening ceremony was attended by the organizers of the tournament and representatives from the Jabriya Cooperative Society.

In the first match, the late Abdulsamad Dashti team defeated Qadsiya team by 2-0 sets (25/17 and 25/21). In the second match, the Hussein Al-Faili team withdrew from the tournament, allowing the Sarkhou team to take the winning points without breaking a sweat. The semi-final matches are scheduled to be held today between the late Abdulsamad Dashti team and Sarkhou team. The teams to play in the second semifinal match will be revealed after the results of the first round are announced.

Other teams participating in the tournament are the late Talal Al-Otaibi team, ABR team, Dashti Diwaniya team and the late Abdulaziz Ashkanani team.

The matches of the tournament are based on the knockout system. Each team will have eight players including two residents of Jabriya area.

This is first time the Ramadan volleyball tournament is being held. According to the organizing committee, daily draws will be held for the fans, giving them the opportunity to win instant prizes.
