Kuwaiti Customs signs agreement with NSA

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8, (KUNA): Kuwait General Administration of Customs signed with United States National Security Agency (NSA) on Tuesday a cooperation agreement to launch the environmental connectivity operations between both sides in order to exchange information and means of electronic customs transport.

Director-General of Kuwait Public Administration of Customs Counselor Jamal Al Jalawi said in a speech following the signing of the agreement that this comes in response to the Kuwaiti public policy aiming at developing the customs work.

The agreement will contribute in the exchange, flow, and use of information as well as means of transport and bodies that that would pose danger to the international world chain, including institutions that would be involved in customs crimes, Al-Jalawi affirmed.

This agreement would will reduce the smuggling process of all prohibitions and high-risk shipments, indicating that it offers authority for Kuwait customs to view the full shipment information including the source, importer, means of transport, and itinerary, he added. In case any kind of danged is inspected in the shipment, this should be reported in order to be inspected accurately and check all its documents he said.

This agreement is not the first of its kind between both sides, as a group of agreements were signed beforehand and contributed in the success of the customs work in the country, he added. The agreement was signed from the Kuwaiti side by Al-Jalawi and from the US side by US Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security and Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration David Pekoske
