KUWAIT CITY, May 26: The Administrative Section at the Court of First Instance granted a request submitted by one employee at the Ministry of Electricity and Water to cancel the decision of the Ministry Undersecretary and reinstate his right to occupy the position of computer engineer with immediate effect.

Lawyer Nassar Al-Serhid representing the plaintiff explained that his client was employed by the ministry as an Assistant Mechanical Supervisor at the Department of Water Network Projects with a secondary education certificate. He said the man had the passion for academic accomplishment, so he pursued higher education at a Malaysian university where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

The certificate has since been evaluated by the Ministry of Higher Education. Consequently, his client approached the concerned department to amend his job title based on the usual regulation that makes allowances for such employees having required experience and academic attainment. However, the administration turned down his request. He presented a petition to the concerned department without success, so he decided to file lawsuit for legal redress.
