KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: The Family Circuit in the First Instance Court cancelled a decision to grant custody of her children to a Kuwait woman. Attorney Bashayer Ja’afar, the exhusband’s lawyer, disclosed she demanded cancellation of the custody after the mother shared immoral pictures and video clips of herself on Instagram, as such an act is a violation of social traditions. The lawyer also asked the court to cancel all decisions issued in the woman’s favor including the monthly allowance for the children (KD 680), rent and salary of the housemaid. Ja’afar presented to the court some documents to support her argument, indicating the mother used to travel a lot and has had intimate relations with more than one man, in addition to taking many pictures with them while wearing indecent clothes. The mother admitted that the pictures and video clips uploaded on Instagram belong to her.

Case adjourned: The Criminal Court Sunday adjourned to Aug 13 the State Security case filed against Dr Othman Al-Khamees on allegations of offending the Shiite doctrine. Representing the plaintiff is Lawyer Jaleel Al-Tabbakh who requested the court to suspend the defendant from giving sermons in mosques as he works for Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, which is one of the state institutions. He said, if the defendant is not suspended, the ministry would be considered as part of the case until it is resolved because the suspect has repeatedly offended the Shiites, which is regarded as an act that can tear apart the national unity. The Public Prosecution had charged Dr Al-Khamees of promoting hatred and contempt of the Shiite segment through statements on social media and satellite TV channels, which can cause sectarian sedition in the country and is thus a violation of the law concerning protection of national unity.
