Court orders defendant to pay Sheikh Mazen KD 5,001 temporary compensation

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: The Civil Court has ordered former secretary general of the National Council for Arts and Letters to pay Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah KD 5,001 dinars temporary compensation after finding the former guilty of insulting Sheikh Mazen through his Facebook account , reports Al-Rai daily.

Earlier the Cassation bench of the Misdemeanor court had turned down the appeal of the defendant and ordered him to pay the plaintiff 3,000 dinars. The Public Prosecution had charged the plaintiff of causing damage to the reputation of Al-Jarrah.

The lawyer for Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah who attended the court had said that the accused violated Article 6 of Law No. 63 of 2015 regarding combating IT crimes. He demanded that the aforementioned article be applied to the accused, accompanied by reports and evidence
