Court acquits Pakistani accused of beating, insulting and threatening to kill his Kuwaiti girlfriend

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 20: The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a Pakistani youth who was accused of beating, insulting and threatening to kill his Kuwaiti girlfriend as well as destroying her car after she rejected his marriage proposal. The Public Prosecution had charged the youth of beating the victim and causing injuries, which were indicated in a medical report, as well as destroying her car and threatening to kill her. During the court session, the defense counsel Lawyer Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan said there are no evidences to prove the allegations against his client, and highlighted the contradictions in the statements of the plaintiff and the technical evidences presented in the forensic report. He added that the investigations reveal his client only punctured the tyres of the plaintiff’s car.

Fine in libel case: The Criminal Court has fined the Director of Kuwait Ports Authority and a media outlet a sum of KD 3,000 each, and referred civil aspect of the case to a special tribunal. The case file indicated Kuwait Logistics Company and two of its subsidiaries sued the Director of Kuwait Ports Authority’s and a media outlet for damages due to statements the director made via the media outlet to tarnish the image of KGL, its subsidiaries and employees.
