KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: ‘Dear customer … your ATM card has been cancelled; please call this number (…) to update your data’. This was the message that the Egyptian received on his phone and it was enough to lose about a thousand dinars which was in his bank account, reports Al-Rai daily.
The man has filed a complaint with the Qashaniyah police station. According to the Egyptian he replied to the message and did what he was told and a few minutes later received the message that the money has been withdrawn from his account in three installments.
When he contacted the bank he found out that the message he had received was from an unidentified person and not a bank employee. The case has been handed over to the e-crimes department of the Ministry of Interior.
