KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3 : Head of the National Program for early detection of colon cancer Fahad Al-Ibrahim disclosed that some fifty thousand citizens have conducted tests for early detection of colon cancer by the speculum since the program was initiated three months ago and two percent of them were diagnosed with the disease.

The program has been established with support from the Cabinet to protect citizens and it’s unique in the Middle East region in terms of diagnosing colon cancer in its early stages to facilitate treatment, he noted. He also mentioned smoking and consumption of animal fat as the main causes of the disease. He pointed out that measures are in place by GCC countries to ban the sale of animal fat.
