Caught in act – ‘Chemical’ seized

KUWAIT CITY, July 26: Officers from Qashaniya police station foiled an attempt by an Egyptian expatriate to cart away 20 dozens of cigarettes and KD 100 cash he stole after breaking into the cooperative society at night through the backdoor and disconnecting the electricity.

A security source said officers on a round of Abdali Farms spotted the Egyptian as he tried to push a huge carton from Qashaniya cooperative society. He admitted stealing the items after disconnecting the power supply to prevent security operatives from tracing him via CCTV cameras. He was referred to concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, officers from the Drug Control General Department recovered 35 thousand grams of chemical valued at KD 700,000 used in manufacturing drugs.

An Interior Ministry statement revealed the campaign against drug trafficking will continue around the clock to rid society of the drug menace and other illegal activities.

No casualties in yacht fire :  Fire broke out in a yacht in Souq Sharq without causing injuries. In a press statement, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate disclosed firefighters were dispatched to the location immediately after receiving information on the incident.  The fire was extinguished in record time and there were no injuries or casualties reported. A case was registered and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of fire.
