KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Deputy Director General of Kuwait Municipality for the Hawalli and Al- Ahmadi Governorates Sector Affairs, Fahad Al-Shatili, said that the committee for updating and studying camp sites with government agencies discussed organizing work and sites for spring camping for the 2022/2023 season and following up on recommendations for evaluating the efficiency of the performance of the concerned authorities to combat desertification.

Al-Shatili added in a press statement Tuesday, after the committee’s preliminary meeting, that a working mechanism was set up to define the tasks entrusted to each party and to discuss the agenda in addition to reviewing the terms and conditions for licensing camps. He explained that the formation of field teams at the governorate level was also discussed to survey, prepare and clean all sites, including coordinating in order to remove any camp established outside the areas specified by the Kuwait Municipality.

He stressed that the municipality will set warnings for sheep owners to change their locations outside the site specified by the municipality and to stay away from high pressure lines and coordinate with the concerned authorities to preserve the environment and wildlife. He pointed out that coordination has been made to establish service sites (central markets for associations, fire stations, a security center, a health center and an ambulance center) to ensure the safety of campers
