‘Campaign to counter negative trends in society will continue’ – MoI seeks citizens, expats cooperation

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: Ministry of Interior continues on its mission to ensure security by trailing law violators in all parts of the country. In this context, General Public Relations and Security Media Department said under the directive of Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Operation Affairs Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh rescue officers from Aug 1 to Aug 11 and dealt with 3,120 calls leading to the arrest of 12 people evading arrest for criminal offenses and 127 others wanted for civil offenses.

They also discovered 25 drug-related cases, recovered 8 wanted vehicles, dealt with one theft case, arrested 160 absconders and 14 others wanted by security authorities, in addition to 43 people without civil ID cards, and 29 people with expired residency.

The sector added that Rescue Department also registered 2,748 traffic violations and dealt with 213 traffic accidents in the same period. Meanwhile, General Security Department from Aug 3 to Aug 10 embarked on several security campaigns in all parts of the country under the supervision of acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Ali Madi.

Statement indicated the sector responded to 1,970 calls via emergency line 122 and conducted 328 investigations resulting in arrest of 49 people wanted for criminal offenses and 205 others for civil offenses, in addition to 4,580 absconders and 418 residency violators.

It added the campaign also led to arrest of 1,018 individuals without civil IDs, 66 people in possession of drugs, and 24 people involved in liquor trafficking. They also issued 2,260 traffic violations, impounded 131 vehicles; issued 214 violations for parking in places allotted for disabled people and recovered 37 wanted cars. Other security commands received 5,087 complaints and dispatched 1,634 security patrols to the main streets and other access roads across all six governorates.

They also provided support to 1,633 people and dealt with 2,359 traffic incidents. Public Relations and Security Media Department indicated the campaign will continue in all governorates over an indeterminate period to confront negative phenomena and ensure security. It called on citizens and expatriates to cooperate with security teams to expose of law.

Meanwhile, an intensive security campaign was carried out by Hawally securitymen in Salmiya area on Thursday which resulted in the arrest of 45 wanted persons and law violators, issuance of 40 traffic citations and confiscation of five vehicles, reports Al-Rai daily.

Securitymen were distributed in various checkpoints to arrest law violators and wanted individuals and they successfully managed to arrest ten Asian expatriates who were reported as absconding, four individuals wanted by law for drugs related cases and one wanted for a criminal case, nine debt defaulters, eight expatriates with expired residence permits and 13 individuals without their civil IDs and other identification documents. All arrested individuals were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
