KUWAIT CITY, Sept 11: The Ministry of Health said it has reactivated the old proposal made by Kuwaiti Medical Association (KMA to transfer the jurisdiction of sending patients overseas for treatment to the Amiri Diwan or the Council of Ministers, reports Al-Shahed daily.

This is because the cost of sending patients overseas for treatment has reached astronomical costs in recent years which has not only put a heavy burden on the government but put a dent in the implementation of some vital construction projects.

Sources close to the issue said the decision was taken after some senior officials in the Ministry of Health made a request to transfer the management of medical treatment abroad to an independent body and a separate budget like in the case of the Supreme Council for the Disabled.
