Brawl reaches peak during soccer match

Fight erupted during a football match between Kuwait Sports Club and Al-Arabi Sports Club which started at the technical bench of the latter as its deputy director, Hussein Ashour, uttered uncomforting words to the board members of Kuwait Sports Club’s football team and their fans.

This happened minutes before the final whistle. Despite efforts to calm the situation by Deputy Board Director of Al-Arabi Sports Club Abdul-Aziz Ashour, assisted by member Jassem Ashour and members of the technical bench; the agitation continued although Kuwait Sports Club’s side, led by Board Chairperson Abdul-Aziz Al-Marzouq, his deputy Khaled Al-Ghanim and treasurer Fahad Al-Ghanim, intervened as well.

The brawl reached its peak after the final whistle of the match in Sheikh Jaber International Stadium, as fans from both sides and some football players of the two teams joined the scuffle. Security officials, administration teams, technical officials and most players from both sides who showed high level of restraint put the situation under control.

Meanwhile, acting Chairperson of the Football Committee Fawaz Al-Hassawi apologized to HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, considering the cup was under his name and sponsorship.

He affirmed those who caused the fight and those who participated in it will be dealt with appropriately for mudding the image ofKuwait’s sports and sports in general due to their lack of discipline and sportsmanship.
