Blogger gets 5-year jail for offending leadership

KUWAIT CITY, April 2:The Court of Cassation sentenced Kuwaiti blogger Abdulaziz Jarallah Al- Mutairi to five-year imprisonment with hard labor for posting on Twitter statements deemed offensive to the office of His Highness the Amir.

The State Security Department pressed charges against him over a Twitter post which was deemed offensive and defaming to the leadership. He was also accused of violating the rights and authority of the Amir
