‘Blocks on traffic offenses will be lifted from June 12’ – Settle fines in one month: Al-Muhanna

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs in Ministry of Interior Major General Abdullah Al-Muhanna announced that the blocks on the traffic offenses of 2015 and earlier will be lifted from Sunday, June 12 for a period of one month.

However, offenses committed by non-Kuwaitis including driving without drivers licenses and speeding as well as violations committed in 2016 will not be included in this decision, reports Al-Seyassah daily. According to a press release issued by Ministry of Interior, the ministry took this decision on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Major General Al-Muhanna declared that violators can pay their traffic fines via the website of Ministry of Interior or directly at either the Traffic Violations Investigations Unit at the traffic department in each governorate or at the service centers in each governorate.

He explained that the aim of this decision is to provide people with an opportunity to amend their status in this regard and start afresh without committing any traffic violations. It is a form of encouragement for people to avoid violations in the future and to drive safely in compliance to the traffic rules and regulations so that their lives and the lives of other road users can be protected and traffic accidents can be reduced.

Major General Al-Muhanna insisted the need to contact the Traffic Violation Investigations Unit in all traffic departments to retrieve the seized drivers licenses and vehicles after paying the fines. Meanwhile, General Traffic Department urged all Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates to take advantage of this opportunity to settle all the fines within a month.
