Bid to smuggle huge quantity of tobacco foiled

The packets loaded with tobacco seized by the customs

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: Customs officers at Shuwaikh Port foiled the attempt to smuggle about 400,000 packages of tobacco as per the instructions of the director general of Customs General Department. In a press statement, North Ports Customs Department Director Saleh Al-Harbi pointed out that the wisdom of a customs inspector at Shuwaikh Port and continuous training of the Customs General Department led to the discovery of the smuggled items. The inspector suspected the contents of the container so he ordered offl oading the ship and this led to the discovery of 400,000 packages of tobacco hidden under tea cans
