Bid to smuggle cigarettes foiled

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 2 The Salmi border post customs officers foiled the attempt of an unidentified passenger to smuggle cigarettes and molasses tobacco into a neighboring country by hiding in his vehicle, reports Al-Anba daily. The contraband has been confiscated and the vehicle handed over to the Land Customs Department. A customs source said according to instructions issued by the the head of the Salmi border post all incoming and outgoing vehicles must be thoroughly checked. The source added cartons of cigarettes and packs of molasses tobacco were hidden in secret compartments in then vehicle.
