Bedouns among two held for drug trafficking, theft cases

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29: A 27-year old Bedoun youth was arrested as he was wanted by law for 13 theft cases and for enforcing a three-month sentence issued against him. According to security sources, Capital securitymen headed by Lieutenant Colonel Fahad Al- Hamidi, under the guidance of Capital Security Director Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah, arrested the suspect in Shuwaikh Industrial Area. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.

Meanwhile, Capital securitymen arrested a Syrian expatriate after he and his Kuwaiti friend were caught red-handed trying to steal from a vehicle parked near Abdullah Al-Salem Cooperative Society. The suspects were trying to open the vehicle when they noticed the patrol vehicle and they ran away but securitymen managed to catch the Syrian suspect while the Kuwaiti suspect escaped. Also, personnel from the General Department for Drugs Control have arrested a bedoun for trafficking in drugs and alcohol, reports Al-Anba daily. A security source said, police acting on a tip-off put the suspect under surveillance for quite some time and caught him red-handed while selling four fingers of hashish to a police agent. Police then raided the man’s home and seized one kilo of hashish and bottles of whisky.

48,000 citations issued: The General Traffic Department (GTD) during a surprise inspection campaigns in the six governorates over the past six days have issued 48,148 citations and impounded 431 cars, reports Al-Shahed daily. Twenty-seven motorists have been arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for reckless driving and five expatriates have been referred to the deportation center for driving without licences. Meanwhile, officers from Public Security Sector headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali arrested 14 wanted individuals, seized 4 vehicles and issued 240 traffic citations during security campaigns that they launched in a number of areas within Jahra Governorate. According to security sources, the officers had set up security checkpoints in several locations within Jahra, Taima, Nassem and Al-Oyoun areas. Also, Capital securitymen arrested a wanted Iranian expatriate for a financial case worth KD 10,000, a wanted Turkish expatriate for a financial case worth KD 11,000 and a wanted Kuwaiti citizen for a financial case worth KD 7,500 during security campaigns in a number of locations within Capital Governorate.
