Bedoun working for MOH selling ‘sick leaves’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 13: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have referred a bedoun employee of the Ministry of Health to the Public Prosecution for ‘selling’ sick leaves to people, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, during interrogations, the suspect is said to have admitted to providing ‘sick leave’ certificates in return for money taking advantage of his work in the Ministry of Health and his relationship with doctors.

The sources said it is still too early to know if the suspect was forging the ‘sick leave’ documents or if he exploited his relationship with the doctors. According to a security source, the arrest came after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) men received information that the suspect was selling sick leaves.

Following investigations, the accused was taken into custody and during interrogation he admitted to committing the crime. He said he was selling certificates much before and after the corona pandemic. He said he charged 50 dinars for a one-week and 75 dinars for two-week sick leaves.
